The Spice Hunter started in a spare bedroom in Lucia Cleveland's home on the Central Coast of California. The very first item she made was Bouquets Garnis, which are tiny balls of spices wrapped by hand. Cleveland sought to create authentic blends, items that the average American might never have tried. She developed a collection of 12 spices and later sold simmering potpourri, which was a top seller at one time.

The company increased focus on sourcing herbs and spices from ideal growing regions. In fact, The Spice Hunter was one the first American brands to sell Saigon Cinnamon, which is sweeter than cinnamon grown elsewhere. The company draws inspiration from local and global food trends while transporting home cooks to new cultures. It offers the highest quality of gourmet spices, unique blends, and the largest selection of salt-free seasonings across the category.

Please note that there is also a brand called Spice Hunter Rum, which is not related to the spice company. It claims to be the home of the boldest spiced rum in the world.
